I just finished talking to the gateway development manager. She says
that DYNAMIC VNODES formally supported in EA 2.6. There is one patch in
EA 2.1 in which they are informally supported. The dynamic vnode
restriction on the use of installation passwords still exists.
I was wrong about my previous assertion regarding the support of
installation password in EA 2.1. Sorry.

Sounds like Ingres Net bug 115280 - Check in with the local support
group for a patch.
As a side topic; dynamic vnodes aren't really intended for installation
passwords (due to the normal installation password requirements) - they
are really intended for plain user names and passwords.
