[Openroad-users] OpenROAD and Oracle

Hi Stephen,

We've queried tables in SQL Server, LDAP and even Access (sorry!)
without Enterprise Access, so I imagine it will work for Oracle too. I
wouldn't recommend this for more than the odd query. EA provides a host
of good stuff that this clunky ADO workaround can't offer.

The trick is to have OpenROAD running on windows (AppServer on a windows
server is ideal) and use ADO/ODBC to access the database. Here is a
presentation with some code fragments showing how to do it.

As I said, it's clunky and a bit of a workaround, definitely not a
strategic development architecture.

Just saw your followup email. You could build a generic inter-DB event
hub in OpenROAD that has DBMS-specific adaptors written in either Java
or a .NET CLR language (pref C#)

Hope this helps.
Rgds,

Hi all

Is it possible to query an Oracle table from within OpenROAD without
using Enterprise Access for Oracle?

Thanks

Stephen
