[Openroad-users] App Server Interface

There may be a manual workaround for this - I haven't tried it all the
way as I don't have any SCP's in my second app, and it takes ages to
compile it.

If you export the 'ascp_LoadMetaGen' from App2 into an export file, and
also Export the same from App1.

For the file from App1, go into the text file and change the procedure
name on Line 28 to be something else , you can now import this back into
the application with a different component name and edit the script.

Cut & Paste the meta gen from the export file of App2 into the new
procedure in App1, but re-sequence the array entries that you are
adding.

Export the new procedure to a text file and edit again, this time
changing the entries on line 28 and 38 back to what they were.

Import this back into App1 and you should now have Meta Data describing
your SCP's from App1 & App2.

I tested as far as I could, but because the 4gl proc did not have a
uc_osca declared, then it bombed, but it did not complain about not
knowing about th4 4gl.

I'm running on OR4.1 SP1, and if you call a 4gl proc that exists in an
included application, it will call it whether it is included in the Meta
gen or not.

Hi Fabian,

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm not concerned about the duplication of BPMs, but the fact that the
BPMs from App2 aren't included in the image.

Using the OR 2006 Server Administrator I can see that I'm missing the
App2 interfaces. I have temporarily gotten around this by importing all
the necessary components into App1, but it'll become unmanageable very
soon as the application grows.

I'll log a bug with Ingres and see where that leads us. Surely if you
have 4 individual apps that share components you don't have to merge all
the components into one application just to be able to access the
interfaces through eClient.

Regards,
Martin.

Hi Martin,

I experienced the same behaviour using OR 4.1 SP3 p11015 on
Windows Server 2003 STD as well as R2 (with and without SP1).

I noticed that this scenario produces duplicate DefineBPM 4GLs (one for
each included app).

It might work better if you don't use ASOLib and therefore avoid the
generation of the Duplicated DefineBPM 4GL scripts.

Subject: [Openroad-users] App Server Interface

Hello All,

Using OpenROAD 2006 on XP SP2.

I have two applications with a number of methods that I'd like to expose
to eClient.

App1 and App2.

App1 has App2 as one of it's included applications, yet when I generate
an App Server image of App1 the App2 interfaces aren't being included.

Am I correct in assuming that you must have all your SCPs in the one
application or should this be considered a bug or am I missing
something?

Many thanks.

Regards,
Martin Pomej
