[Openroad-users] Comparison of development & deployment costs

I can't say I've seen a direct comparison between OpenROAD and VB .NET,
but I'm aware of a number of deals that Prophecy International won
against a variety of development platforms for the building of two
systems in South Australia; 1). the Emergency Services Levy system (SA
Tax Office), and; 2). the Water Licensing CRM (Department of Environment
and Water).

 

We understand that both of these systems were delivery on-time and
on-budget, well under the bids of other systems developers in VB and a
variety of other systems.

 

However, please note that these applications were developed using
OpenROAD Prophecy e-Foundation and Framework development environment
rather than in OpenROAD directly.  If you're interested you can find out

There appears to be a few model driven application generators appearing
in the Open Source arena to are able to generate Java and/or .NET, but
you still end up doing a hell of a lot of handcrafted coding for
anything other than CRUD table maintenance operations - as it should be,
or we'd all be out of work.
