Oh, and forgot to add, a couple of years ago I worked somewhere that had enough trouble setting SuSE 8 to work on current hardware that they went to SuSE 9 & Ingres R3.  I suggest that you similiarly go to OR 2006 & Ingres 2006.  Probably Ingres 2006 Release 2 since it is now GA.
