[Openroad-users] OpenROAD 4.1/0403 on Linux

As you probably know, OpenROAD on Unix/Linux depends on some
3rd-party software - MainWin (from MainSoft).
That means that the list of supported platforms for OpenROAD
mainly depends on the list of platforms supported by MainWin.

We just switched from MainWin 5.0.3 to 5.1.1 (the current version)
in order to provide support for the OS levels I listed -
one reason for the slight delay of the availability of OR2006 on
Unix/Linux.

OpenROAD 2006 on Linux is currently in QA.

It will support
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4 (ES, AS and WS)
- SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8, 9 and 10 It should also run on Fedora
Core 4 (though not officially supported).

Has OR2006 been released on Linux yet? I was under the impression that
it had not been and that it was some way off.

I experimented with installing OR2006 using 'wine' and had some mixed
results, mainly that Ingres Net would hang when starting - bit of a
stumbling block !

Oh, and forgot to add, a couple of years ago I worked somewhere that had
enough trouble setting SuSE 8 to work on current hardware that they went
to SuSE 9 & Ingres R3. I suggest that you similiarly go to OR 2006 &
Ingres 2006. Probably Ingres 2006 Release 2 since it is now GA.
