Hello everyone,
Bodo's not repeating himself. I just accidentally ticked the ok button
on his posting yesterday which was held up because it was a little over
the 100K limit.
We voted several years ago to place a 100K limit on individual postings.
We are being considerate to our host Peerless who are providing
hardware, sysadmin and network for free. With 300+ users on the list a
single 100K email can eat up considerable network bandwidth.
It seems many of the most interesting mails are approaching the limit.
If 100K is not enough, perhaps we should move to bump it up a bit.
Here are some tips for trimming down the size of your emails
Post in text. HTML formatting seems to carry extra baggage.
Remove fancy signatures which contain bitmaps or animations
Chop out copies of earlier conversations.
Compress any attachments
Send screen images as jpg attachments not bitmaps.
If you have a large file you would like to share, feel free to drop me a
quick note. We can arrange to place it somewhere on the net and provde a
link to the file.
Regards
Paul White
