[Openroad-users] Embedding MS Word in an OR application

Thanks to Alex, Andrew (Pete) and Colin for their replies - very much appreciated.

I like the simplicity of Colin's approach. This was an easy one to set up and I successfully tested it to open up an existing MS Word document and an existing MS Excel spreadsheet (interestingly, the cmd window closed when the Word document opened but stayed open until the Excel spreadsheet was closed). I am interested in seeing the ActiveX wrapper written in VB 6 please Colin. From Andrew's feedback, I know that I may have problems ahead when we go to Vista (forewarned is forearmed).

In answer to Andrew's question - I have to assume that we will have a mix of MS Word versions in our user base. I would like to see the coding you mentioned - I find it so much easier to learn using existing examples. The same goes for Pete's sample code - I would really like to see that code too even though it may be some time before we go OR 2006.

Thanks to Alex for the sample files. I am having trouble getting them to open but will try to get past the problems in my environment first (I am working on the imported frame first - I take it msword is an External Class Library but I don't know to what it points). I can see how things should hang together, but I have a bit of a learning curve here before I can hope to get it all working together (having little business exposure to MS Excel and no exposure to MS Query).

Danny
