As the ExternalError attribute is defined as ReadOnly, you should not need to reset it to zero.

with respect to the ExternalError attribute does it need to be reset to zero everytime, before an ActiveX method/attribute is used?

Have you checked the ExternalError attribute of SessionObject (CurSession.ExternalError) ?

BTW: the error code -2147352567 (0x80020009) just means "Exception occured",
so this can happen for any exception in your ActiveX component -
it doesn't really map to the error message 'Notes Error - File does not exist' you see in the trace window.

	hi all,

i think, this problem was described two times in the last months by Gary Hansford on 6. Dec and Roger Pachet on 17. Nov, but I could not find any answer to the questions.
Now I am facing the same problme using Lotus Notes ActiveX methods

Sometimes the OR Trace window shows this kind of error

E_WT006D The invocation of an external object method failed.
The method 'opendatabase' for source '<missing>' returned an error code
of -2147352567 and the error message:
'Notes Error - File does not exist'

I decided to do a loop checking if the invocation fails and if so to try again several times before displaying an error message to the user, but I could not find any class or attribute containing the errorcode E_WT006D nor the error code returned from Lotus Notes.

Does anybody have an idea which attribute contains this information?

	Kind regards
	Christoph Szallies
