The official way to do this is via the ingres enterprise access product -
http://www.ingres.com/products/enterprise-access.php - unfortunately at
extra cost and a bit of hassle. the product acts as a gateway between
non-ingres databases and the ingres infrastructure.
I know that in the past some people have used 3GL libraries to do their own
DB access, but that's a lot of work.
It's probably going to be more hassle and cost than you think.
