Hi Mark,
I believe the preferred migration path from 3.5 to 4.0 is to export and
import your application source code.
I have successfully used 4.x runtime on 4.0 images and 2006 runtime over
4.1sp3 images.
You can have a 3.5 installation on the same machine as a 4.x or 2006
installation by wrapping the runtime in a script which sets appropriate
environment variables. To avoid conflicting ingres net versions you can
install different instance identifiers. The list archives have some
good postings which cover migration issues from 3.5 to 4.x. Let me know
if you you want more.
You'll probably get a better response with OpenROAD users.

Subject: [Info-Ingres] Running OpenROAD 3.5 images against OR 4.1 / OR
2006runtime
Hi!
I've been trying to run OpenROAD 3.5 images against OpenROAD 4.1 and
OpenROAD 2006 runtime on AIX 5.3, without any luck. Following the
suggestion shown in the errormessage ("Upgrade to a higher level") is
currently no option. Has anybody ever managed to run OR 3.5 images
against OR 4.1 or higher without upgrading the application? If so, how?
