Larry,

 If its only happening on the remote vnodes (and not the local database)
then you really need to investigate what happens when you click on
delete/save etc. You'll have to use ipm on the remote server, to see the
status of your DBMS session and what it is waiting for. You could also
start to diagnose the issue from the OR2006 client using 

   ingsetenv II_EMBED_SET "printqry;qryfile c:\temp\iiprtqry.log"

Have a look at the c:\temp\iiprtqry.log file when the hang occurs to see
what (if anything) it has sent to the server etc..

You could also inject the display of the SQL thats being fired using

   ingsetenv ING_PRINT "set printqry"

You'll then see in the OpenRoad trace window all the SQL being fired..
if any :-)...

This may give you some more pointers...
